The puppies eyes are opened and they are still fat little things! Hopefully the weather will cooperate so they can go out to play (and poo and pee) soon! ;-) They aren't real active yet, so the bathtub is still corral-ing them!
Tigwee is doing better, she has some mastitis (yes a cat with mastitis!) but is otherwise healing fine. I am laughing at the thought of using a teat infusion like we could with the cow! Not like I'm worried she is going to loose that quarter--she's fixed now! (Are they called quarters in cats?) Hmmmmm.....
Had to get up waaaay early again and get Kyle into school for another speech team meet. None scheduled for next week-whew! I might get to sleep in for a change! ;-)
Jared was target practising again yesterday, the weather was sunny and nice--maybe 45*(F) and it felt good!
Patrick and B&K rented a Bobcat to help them smooth out the ground where the old double-wide was. (It got moved out this week, torn down and hauled away.) The new (to them) one will start to get disassembled Monday morning in Kansas, so I am guessing it will be here no later than Tuesday. Getting down to the brass tacks as they say!
To save money, B and Patrick will hook up what they can (water, sewer) and do the skirting.
I'll make the Prime Rib for an "all done" celebration, but K has to make the Key Lime Pie! (Hers is the best, she could EASILY sell her pies!) :) I know she'll hold me to the Prime Rib......hey, what are friends for?? *grin*

Baby season here
I forgot, Lilly had six puppies on Thursday the 11th of Feb. Since its so cold out, mama and babies are in the bathtub in one of the bathrooms. They are fat and rolly-polly, she is feeding them well!
Saturday the 20th, I had to take Tigwee in for a C-section (and a spay!) promptly at 8 am when the vets office opened. This cat has been in two car accidents (incidents?) in the past, hence why she's a house cat now. She had three kittens total, but the first one was stuck (hence the C-section) and then had two left, a male and a female. The male died Monday afternoon, he wasn't very thrifty to begin with. Then Wednesday the female wasn't doing very good. She passed later that evening. Even with supplemental milk, I think they were damaged in-utero (before birth). Tigwee had regular contractions at 4 am Saturday morning, and I know the vet didn't get to her until after noon, maybe even 1 o'clock. :( So that's how that all went.
Kyle had another Speech Team debate Saturday, and then again on Monday. Jared went target practising again on Saturday with some friends.
Patrick and Jared have been helping some friends tear out and old double-wide here in town to get everything ready for their new house to be moved in, oh, in about two weeks. Talk about stress and crunch time! The cold, windy, snowy weather hasn't been helping matters much, either.
I'm excited, and will be happy along with them when its all done and they can move in. Lets hope the weather holds out for some windless days!
We got a dusting of snow last Thursday (or was that Friday?)), and then a few inches again on Sunday. Of course with wind and cold. Today (the 24th)we have another Arctic blast coming through making it windy and cold again. I think our high is to be 24* (don't have a clue of what the windchill will be) and tonight it will be 5*. Maybe just maybe it'll warm up enough to thaw some snow later on in the week! Spring will get here, but its sure taking its sweet time this year!

Cold again
Drove to work in whiteout (blizzard) conditions Sunday (Valentines' Day). We didn't get much snow, just the cold and wind blew all the loose snow everywhere. By the time I drove home the wind had died down and things were 'normal'.
Found out Kyle will more than likely need jaw surgery. I can't pronounce what they call it! Seems his lower jaw is growing too fast and his upper jaw isn't keeping up with it. They have been keeping an eye on it for a year now, but its not slowing down. I want more info before I give a 'green light' to get it done. I know the dentist is a specialist, but that's just me to find out everything I can first.
Jared is getting adept at car maintenance, his car is getting on its last leg. Hopefully it'll last until school is out. Insurance is more on his beater than our PU's with full coverage! (Yikes!)
Patrick decided to go to a casino with a friend....told him he'd better bring me back some 'cow money'. :-)
I have been doing the same as I usually do, not much other than chores, and work. I like being a homebody. Just wish the weather was more agreeable to get more stuff done outside!

Let it Snow
The first week of February brought us 3 inches of new snow. Then we got another inch over the weekend. But it didn't come with wind or nasty cold this time. It was the pretty, big flakes that came straight down. Like what you see on the movies!
The nasty cold waited until this Monday (the 8th), blowing some of the snow around.
The boys had a band concert Sunday. It was a short program, but as always, enjoyable. Between that, pep band, and other activities/work they are involved in, sometimes I don't see them much. I see them off in the mornings, and sometimes they swing by work to visit before they are off to something else. Some weeks are crazy, other weeks (thankfully) have a slower pace.
Patrick had a black powder meeting Sunday, I was amazed at the turnout--the Superbowl was on, too. Stiff competition for time! He has been scouting new targets for them, life-size and in color. They're pricier, but members liked them so his work paid off.
Jared will only get to go to two shoots this year (and cleanup day in March) until he is off to Ft. Benning for training. Kyle isn't as interested in the black powder, and not sure if he'll compete. I know his Grandpa Russell would like him to participate.
My mom called the other day from deep south Texas (they are "winter Texans"). She said they had gotten more rain and it was chilly some days. I laughed at that comment. Warm here right now is their "chilly". I'd be elated to see 40 degrees on end in the winter! ;)
