It has been busy here! We had some good rains July 4th weekend/week, and its been dry since. Everything would break up and go around us when there was rain in the area. So tending/watering plants, mowing, fence fixing and general day-to-day stuff has kept us busy!
The Lillies I planted years ago, and the other photo is of a Cicada and his shell on my Zucchini plant. The shell is in the foreground, and the Cicada is.....(look for it first!) ;-) just left of the top center.
Kyle has been frolfing (Frisbee disc golfing) alot and working alot. The beastie/beater car finally croaked, so off to the junkyard it went. Of course, it seemed like half the people he worked with had something for sale to offer....but he got a good deal on a Explorer that needs a bit of work. (It's drive-able as is, just needs some piddly things.) So he is chomping at the bit to get it fixed. He and I have been sharing my truck the past couple of weeks. Hard to do when we go to work at different times and come home at different times too! But we're managing!
Patrick has been making good use of the neighbors swimming pool, and he made me a bigger chicken tractor. (Movable chicken coop, for those chickens that can't free-range due to predators or close neighbors' yards!) I just realized I don't have a photo of it yet! The chickens are happier, so that is good!
The weather has been hot and humid, finally today some rain has come thru and cooled things off. I picked a yellow tomato the other day from the garden and several cherry and pear tomatoes. Oh and some banana peppers. I have lots of green ones, and a few are just starting to turn. A friend gave us a few cucumbers and boy did they taste good! (My cucumbers are behind since I had to replant them when hail came thru twice in one week awhile back and got my cukes, spinach and one patch of carrots!)
Jared called Patrick July 4th weekend they gave them a surprize off-base outing to watch fireworks. AND they gave them a 5-minute phone call (for free) to boot! He is doing fine, sent us one of his targets he'd shot at. :) The last letter he wrote they were doing an 'overnight' and he was excited to get to use the night vision goggles.
