For Our Troops......

Welcome!

Either you're searching for some information and stumbled across here, or already know me and are interested in what I/we do. :)

The dairy cow doesn’t ask for much, but she asks every day.
People who are creating wealth with a cow either are hardworking and reliable or get that way in a hurry. This is the way it has been for a very long time.
--Joann Grohman (Author of Keeping a Family Cow)

There are three kinds of people in this world:
Those who watch things happen,
Those who Make things happen,
or you can wonder what the hell happened.
--Captain Phil Harris (RIP)

A few of words of wisdom I have come across:

Choose not to just live within your means, but live within your needs.

If you don't want to be responsible for or defend yourself, please don't expect others to do it for you.

(My translation: Buck up and learn some skills!)

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!

"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the AmericanGovernment take care of him; better take a closer look at the American Indian."--Henry Ford

Small Family Farms need our help when ludicrous charges have come up against them. Maybe someday it could be one of us on this "make an example out of you" chopping block.

Pushing back (via donations, interviews, getting the word out, etc) and standing up for what we believe in will send a clear message that we refuse to just roll over and give up!

When we know what we're fighting for, we fight harder--Sgt . Gary Stein (USMC)

THANK YOU!!!

Lots of work done this week

We've had a tiring and busy but a very productive week. Wednesday I planted carrots and transplanted some volunteer onions left over from last year. I also dug up a hastily planted rhubarb patch, got them separated and replanted. Gave the sweet neighbor lady 4 plants as well--she was excited!
Patrick tilled a bit in the garden, I want to plant more Asparagus. (The purple ones) Our other patch is starting to get some coming up--ummmm!! :)

Saturday and Sunday we got some tomatoes planted in containers, as well as some bell peppers and I got my blueberry plants set where they will grow better. Pat got some Cantaloupe and Zucchini planted as well. It's kind of early for some of the plants, but I've got planting fever! Besides, I want some stuff ready for when Jared has leave (hopefully late July).

Kyle (thankfully for me) has abandoned doing the National Guard basics this summer. We have to go see the dentist again, I'm thinking he should get his (put off) jaw surgery this summer. He has been busy with work, golf, frolfing and school and practising for his Easter Sunday performance with his Trombone. Some days I don't see him much. :(

Jared was supposed to do a jump Saturday for an airshow, but they cancelled in while in the air. Too many low clouds over the drop zone. So they got up early, got all their stuff ready for just a plane ride. ;) He is good about texting (at 3:30 in the morning usually) when he is headed out for a jump.

Saturday I got a text that said PEEPS!!! so I knew he had gotten his 'care package' we sent earlier in the week. Along with some recorded shows, we sent some Peeps--one of his favorite seasonal (Easter) candy (marshmallow concoctions shaped like chicks coated with colored sugar). Not healthy, but a treat to let him know we're thinking of him!

Today Pat has a Blackpowder shoot. Its to be windy, so hopefully the gusts will hold off until they are done.

Have a great week everyone! :)
